Now, when you say “energy booster” do you mean that your supplement actually boosts energy, as in natural energy production, or simply flushes my brain with insane-O amounts of stimulation. Because let me be honest: I’m down for both.
If the emphasis on “Earth” and “vegan” and all that is any indication, GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ seems to focus more on natural energy production over your usual stimulant rush of energy. However, I do see “caffeine” on the Supplement Facts, so… what’s the actual deal here, guyyys??
I’ll tell you what the deal here is. All you’ll need to do is read my GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ review below. Mhm, enjoy.

Herbs, shrooms, and caffeine. GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ takes a multi-angled approach to better energy, all of which is natural, of course. Which is groovy. But is any of it any good? Let’s find out.
GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ Review: Ingredients
Matcha Powder (Camellia sinensis) – This supplement isn’t green tea flavored… it IS green tea. While not supplied in potent extract form, this hefty dose (1,000 mg) of matcha powder gives this supplement genuine dietary vibes, supplying healthy green tea polyphenols and antioxidants while tasting like actual matcha tea.
Revitalizing Organic Mushroom Blend Powder, 1000 mg
Hard to say the actual value of this mushroom blend due to blend’s proprietary status (which obscures the individual ingredient dosages). However, it’s a clever, healthy twist on the caffeinated energy design of this supplementing, supplying an interesting mix of ATP enhancing shrooms (e.g, cordyceps) and NGF-boosting brain builders (e.g., Lion’s Mane). Fungal energy boosters are increasingly in popularity — and rightfully so: they enhance energy not through cheap-O, unhealthy stimulant pathways but through actual boosts on natural energy and stamina levels. Great for mental and physical performance.
Blueberry Powder (Vaccinium corymbosum) – Blueberries are good. Blueberry powder? Sure, it’s not bad, potentially supplying a brain healthy mix of polyphenols, most notably resveratrol and pterostilbene. Might assist with combating oxidative stress; yet, it’s hard to tell the efficacy of this plain powder stuff, as opposed to a standardized, potent extract.
Maca Root Powder (Lepidium meyenii) – Mm, maca. Plain maca tastes pretty damn good, making it one of my favorite tea additions — alongside Rhodiola and Ashwagandha. Many supplements supply maca in plain powder form, which is fine. This herb seems to help boost mood and vitality.
Cereboost® (American Ginseng Root Extract) – Animal research on this specific brand (Cereboost®) found improvements on mice cognitive function via cholinergic pathways. More on Ginseng.
Natural Caffeine (from Green Coffee Bean Extract) – Ever heard of this stuff? Caffeine is the wild, cool compound that makes you feel good and energized and… yea! While not a true nootropic, as caffeine has a greater potential of actually impairing cognition, the 100 mg here is a modest amount. Not a bad source of caffeine, especially if plan on using this supplement as a coffee (or, God forbid, energy drink) alternative. More on Caffeine.
GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ Review: Herbal, Fungal, Caffeinated Energy
Here’s the standard supplement approach to boosting energy:
- Hide a jumbo amount of under-dosed, sprinkled nootropics in a proprietary blend.
- Mask the product’s ineffectiveness with a super amount of caffeine.
And here’s how GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ works: supply a modest amount of caffeine (100 mg) in addition to a much greater amount of herbal adaptogens, extracts, and energy boosting mushrooms. Which is a fancy way of saying: GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ actually works — and it works in a healthy way.
Within the wild world of nootropics, there are fundamentally two approach to boosting energy: 1) via cheap, feel-good stimulation, or 2) via increases on natural, cellular energy levels. GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ bridges the gap between these approaches, yet applies a greater emphasis on the healthier, more natural pathway. Because let’s face it: caffeine is a bitch of a habit to break. So, I’m fine with Energizing TonIQ supplying at least a little.
GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ is a great alternative to coffee and other addictive caffeine sources.
Perhaps you’ve tried substituting coffee (or soda, energy drinks, etc.) with tea. I love tea. I drink lots of tea… but I still drink my coffee as well. With a supplement like Energizing TonIQ, I’m getting the caffeine fix of a cup of coffee with several other, healthier brain energizing ingredients. And it tastes great, which definitely helps in turning this supplement into a healthy daily habit.
Granted, it’s a bit annoying that GNC Earth Genius hides its shrooms beneath a proprietary blend. Plus, some powder ingredients might actually do better in extract form. But even so, these are minor complaints as compared to the positives of this clean, green energy booster.
The Pros
- GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ delivers a healthier caffeine energy boost than your usual caffeine sources.
- This variety of herbal adaptogens, fungal energy boosters, and caffeine is unique, not often seen in this powder scoop format.
- Even with the proprietary blend, the dosages look generally good across the board.
The Cons
- The proprietary blend is still a negative, even if it’s not that big of a deal here.
- Some powder forms may be upgraded to more potent extract formats.
Pricing
- $24.99 for 20 scoops, a 20-day supply
- $1.25 per serving
If you buy through the GNC online store, you’re given the AUTO-DELIVER & SAVE option, which saves you 10% (+ shipping) per container. Not a bad idea, if you plan on taking this supplement for the long run.
Who Takes GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ?
The GNC Earth Genius line of supplements has a major uber-healthy “hipster” vibe to it, yet the Energizing TonIQ should appeal to anyone who enjoys: A) tea, and/or B) caffeine. Even with its shortcomings, I’m impressed by this supplement’s take on energy boosting, as I’d like to see more herbal and fungal nootropic-infused caffeine products on the market. Coffee is great, but I prefer my caffeine in healthier forms and flavors. GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ supplies just that.
Where to Buy It
You can buy GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ through GNC and Amazon at essentially the same price; although, you’ll have to buy through the online GNC store to receive the AUTO-DELIVER & SAVE order option.
Conclusion: Does GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ Work?
At it’s worst, GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ is an overglorified caffeine rush. Yet, I think this supplement has done plenty to demonstrate that it’s much more than that. In fact, had they removed the caffeine, I’d still view this as a pretty brain healthy, feel good energy booster — just not a stimulating energy booster.
Aside from caffeine, the ingredients in Energizing TonIQ may help improve mental and physical performance in ways that stimulants do not. By combining them with a reasonable amount of caffeine, GNC Earth Genius Energizing TonIQ works as a truly healthy, nootropic source of energy, and one tasty enough to replace those junk-O drinks rotting your insides. However, if you’re looking for more cognitive enhancement to stack with this energy booster, I recommend checking out my Best Nootropic Supplements of 2018 list.
